Well said Andy, I feel the same way for a different reason. If we read, share and or restack an article, we are doing the author a good turn by free advertising. A paywall is a slap in the face to those who share for the right reasons.

I never sub to anyone with a pay wall and there is way more in my box everyday than I can read. I don't trust anyone trying to profit from all this anyway.

Lucky to get your pension, I have little hope I will get mine in 8 years. The psychological damage from the lockdowns and mandates would be reason enough to claim early retirement, for anyone in the range. When your government makes an effort to kill you, it's just so....darn.....mean. My anger must be dealt with daily, which I do by playing various horns, (trombone, flugelhorn). But even after I am still angry. I want my pension NOW. Like most of you, have been paying in since reaching working age. 40 years, and we don't get interest on our investment. My government more than hates me, hard to accept.

Bravo Andy - if they wish a paywall there is obviously an ulterior motive IMHO. Especially if they disable comments - they are shooting themselves in the foot and exposing their vulnerabilities.

I pay subscriptions awesome writers that I know have no other way to get money.

But I also subscribe to paywall writers that I believe are suspect ( possibly controlled opposition) because I want to know what crap they are diverting or brainwashing their following with. My belief is that almost every MFM influencers that has a paywall is corrupt or has been corrupted once they reached the threshold of popularity that might be a threat to the anonymous players.

Threats to the anonymous players are few, I must admit....

I've done the same. There is plenty of good stuff free.

Tricky situation between writers and subscribers. I so appreciate both sides. But I'm with you. After subscribing, monitoring, being led by the title, looking forward to the content, you hit a paywall. I have unsubscribed from the best. I just can't do it.

I can resonate with your choices. I read dozens of substacks but do not pay for any of them. I admire many of these authors, but it might come down to affording to eat well verses being well read.

I am at the point where I don't trust much and question quite a bit. I am not on any other mainstream social sites and avoid them like the plague they are.

I don't care for "influencers" of any stripe and reserve the right to decide for myself. I avoid the TV media as they only seek to jack your mind out of shape.

If I need to read anything, I will read westerns first.

That's right Andy, speech needs to be free. What they are doing is creating a new elite that can only speak if they pay. They will send you their newsletter and have their say but you can't comment unless you give them money - it's a form of extortion. There is nothing malicious in upholding free speech. I'm going to do the same. I get Karen Kingston's newsletter - the one who is very informed about Pfizer insider information - they want to get their speech across, that's fine, but won't let you have your say. Like you I'm saying bye bye to these one-siders.

Did the same earlier this year. Try to make a habit of asking myself to imagine the others amount of extra monthly cash to mine before helping them.

I don't blame you, I'm also on just Social Security, and can only afford a few paid Substacks, most I get are the free version. And on some, when I try to comment I'm not allowed unless I pay.
